Biography

Though Natalia Loza was born in Kharkiv, Ukraine, in 1964, she is a passionate and devoted follower of Odessa South Russian School of Art tradition. Her favorite subject is Old Odessa – a historic city with colorful and enchanting history and multi-cultural mix resulting in a unique subculture that Natalia captures so well. A daughter of a renowned People’s Artist of Ukraine Adolf Loza, she stubbornly struggled to find her own distinct voice as an artist, determined not to remain in the shadow of her famous father. Natalia graduated from Odessa College of Theatrical Arts and Odessa University of Education. She now teaches at her alma mater at the chair of painting with the Department of Visual Arts. Natalia is famous for her impasto paintings of Odessa streetscapes and still lives, that are full of sunshine, rich colors and genuine emotions.
